Our story, our mission, and the people behind HiNurse.
Joao and Michael, two passionate professionals, met in 2015. Their connection and friendship have grown ever since. During the COVID period, they saw the impact of high demand for care and a shortage of healthcare professionals on the community and economy. This led to a new idea: HiNurse.
Over the past years we gained experience in the healthcare sector and felt the need to build something powerful, innovative, and with a significant positive impact on people.
Our solution to the shortage of nurses and caregivers in the Netherlands was to build a network platform for European nurses and other caregivers to fulfill their career goals and dreams in the Netherlands for care and cure organizations. After the startup and pilots in 2025, Joao pursued a new opportunity in life.

Michael Hamers
Founder and entrepreneur
Michael was born in 1972. He is owner and director of a homecare company and multiple nursing homes in the South of the Netherlands (Limburg). He started these companies in 2005 together with his wife, who was also a nurse. Michael is an international Recruitment & HR specialist who enjoys short city trips across Europe and meeting people from different cultures and backgrounds. Portugal has a special place in his heart and soul. He has an energetic entrepreneurial mindset and a broad focus.
